Week 10: Real Research

Hi! It's been a while since my last post but nevertheless I'm excited to talk about this weeks topic.

Research! In this modern world of "fake news", I have found myself and many of my peers becoming more and more cynical than the generations that came before us. We are taught more than ever to be aware of our sources and to have multiple. With the internet being so vast, anyone has the possibility to write "the facts" as they see fit. So how do we get around that? I want my students to be able to do real research.

Google Scholars. Throughout my time in college Google Scholars was my savior. I believe I discovered it sometime between freshman and sophomore year and never looked back. With so many great settings, this search engine stands above the rest.

Of course we have to remember a tool is only as good as its user. Knowing when to apply Google Scholar and how to use it is key and so I ask any of my readers to make sure they skim and even catch up, like I did myself, on the many new factors this tool has to offer!
